Philosophy Bicycle Co.

Chad Lovings and Bryce Baumann met on a snowy winter day in Rifle, Colorado. For two weeks they shared a motel suite while studying the craft of framebuilding under Koichi Yamaguchi. By the end of the course they realized their meeting was fateful. They both lived in Denver, had similar cycling and aesthetic influences, and shared a vision of building custom steel frame bicycles. They decided to take a leap of faith and team up to pursue their dreams and started LoveBaum Bicycles. They found workshop space, scrambled to assemble equipment, and put their heads down to focus on honing their craft. The short term plan was to simply work hard, pursue excellence, and build the best bikes possible. However, a specific long term vision hadn’t been established. Things moved quickly. Before they knew it they attended NAHBS and took home the best new builder award. Motivated by the positive response they continued to learn and grow. Maturing through each and every bicycle built, the long term vision became clear. After a year of focused effort they are proud to announce the next chapter in their evolution, Philosophy Bicycle Co.

Philosophy Bicycle Co is founded on the fact that bikes are rad. They’re the intersection of art, design, passion, creativity, utility, and joy. Powered by your strength and will, the bicycle allows you to explore and push your limits. In the same fashion Chad and Bryce push themselves with an unrelenting pursuit of perfection. They build thoughtfully designed bicycles that are custom tailored to the rider for their specific riding needs and goals. Each frame is meticulously handcrafted with the highest quality steel tubing and materials. Philosophy offers custom road, cyclocross, and fully custom complete bicycles. Whatever your personal philosophy is on cycling, they are excited to build you the bike of your dreams. What’s your philosophy?

Philosophy Bicycle Co is launching at NAHBS this weekend at booth 605. Stop by and chat with Chad and Bryce to learn more. T-shirts, caps, bottles, and stickers will be available. The full site and web store will launch when they return to Denver. Please check back for updates.

Charlie’s Custom Single Speed:

Living the dream in Austin, TX, Charlie commissioned a badass single speed for quick rips around town. After a shop visit he threw down a deposit, told us he wanted something black and red, then let us run wild. The frame is constructed using a mix of True Temper and Columbus tubing, and features bi-laminate reinforcement details on the seat tube and stays to match the aesthetic of the custom steel fork. Paul direct mount Racer Brakes are incorporated to provide ample tire clearance and stopping power. A custom stem was designed to keep the front cable routing nice and clean. Built to be fast and fun with a focus on incorporating quality US made components, Charlie’s bike is as unique as the man himself.
